From 23 April Daniel Ochoa will perform Schaunard in the revival
of Harry Kupfer’s 1984 staging of La Bohème at Vienna Volksoper.
On 2 and 3 April Ochoa will return to his hometown, where he will sing
the part of Christ in the traditional passion-concerts with the choir
of St. Thomas Church and Gewandhaus Orchestra.
For the first time the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra invited Daniel Ochoa
for two performances on 28 and 29 April. The baritone solo in
Carl Nielsen’s Third Symphony will also be Ochoa’s first cooperation
with conductor Herbert Blomstedt.
After intense and exciting weeks working with Rolando Villazón,
the premiere of Villazón’s staging of Viva la Mamma will take place on 17 January.
In this funny and tumultuous production Daniel Ochoa will perform the role of Stefano.
In 2014 Daniel Ochoa will again give guest performances in Central Germany.
On three consecutive days (19 to 21 December) he will sing in all six cantatas
of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in Halle and Leipzig.
On 18 October Daniel Ochoa will perform Ping in Turandot, his first role
in an Italian verismo opera. In this production he will be on stage
with star tenor Neil Shicoff for the first time.
At this year’s Mendelssohn Festival Daniel Ochoa is going to sing “Paulus”!
Together with Michael Schönheit and the Merseburg Hofmusik he will perform
the title role of this important oratorio in the great hall of the Gewandhaus
on 14 September.
At the close of this season Daniel Ochoa has three role debuts at the Vienna Volksoper.
After, for the first time, performing Dr Falke (Die Fledermaus) and Moralès (Carmen)
on stage in Volksoper he will be the principal performer in “Tango Amor”,
interpreting some of the most famous Argentinean Tangos. More performances are coming up
in the 14/15 season.
On 20 April Daniel Ochoa is going to sing the part of Christ in
Bach’s St Matthew Passion. For his debut at the Kölner Philharmonie he will
perform with Andreas Spering and the Cologne Chamber Orchestra.
On 13 and 14 April Daniel Ochoa will again appear in the Palm Sunday Concerts
of the Staatskapelle Dresden. Reinhard Goebel will conduct
Telemann’s “Trauermusik für August den Starken” in a version reconstructed

Last autumn’s recording of Brahm’s Requiem with the Dresden Kreuzchor
and the Dresden Philharmonic will be released by the Berlin Classics label
beginning of April.
On 8 March Daniel Ochoa will again sing in Wiener Konzerthaus’ Großer Saal
with the Wiener Singakademie under the baton of Heinz Ferlesch

At the beginning of the year Daniel Ochoa will return to Vienna Volksoper
for the baritone solo in Orff’s Carmina Burana (12 January) and his first
Musical role – Anthony in “Sweeney Todd” – (6, 8 and 13 January).
Later that month he will perform Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder together with John Neumeier
and his Hamburg Ballet in Bonn (15 and 16 January) and, for the first time,
at the Hamburg State Opera (20 January). Back in Vienna he will start the final
rehearsals as Sid in Britten’s “Albert Herring”. Brigitte Fassbaender’s staging
will premier on 15 February.
After his debut with the Munich Bach Choir in Philharmonie Gasteig (28 November)
Daniel Ochoa will return to Japan for performances of Messiah in Osaka (7 December)
and Tokyo (14 December).
Leading up to Christmas the baritone will sing in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio
with the Staatskapelle Halle in Halle (20 December) and in St.
Nicholas Church in Leipzig (21 and 22 December).
